Build Your Own Rain Barrel in Under 5 Minutes — Free Shipping!
We at Rain Brothers have been designing, constructing, and installing rainwater harvesting systems — both residential and commercial scale — in the Ohio region for over 15 years, and we've used virtually every downspout diverter on the market. Common problems with other diverters include:
- Difficult installation
- Insufficient inlet size into the barrel or tank
- Insufficient overflow, causing the diverter to back up drainage
- Only compatible with the smallest downspouts (2"x3")
Our DIY Rain Barrel Construction and Installation Kit addresses all of these issues with a thoughtful, high-quality, affordable solution.
What's Included (under $40)
- Three hole saws for drilling and installing valves and the downspout diverter (2-1/8", 1-1/2", 1-1/4")
- 3/4" ball valve for connection to an irrigation hose
- 3/4" drain valve for quick draining, linking barrels, or adding a second valve
- Two threaded rubber seals for water-tight, easy installation of valves and drain plug
- 1-1/2" rubber seal for a water-tight inlet into the tank or barrel
- 31" of flexible hose to link the barrel or tank to the downspout diverter
- Rubber Flexi-Fit downspout diverter — choose Rectangular 2"x3", Rectangular 3"x4", or Round (3" or 4")
- Winterizing cap for quick and easy winterization of your downspout
Installation — 3 Easy Steps
- Drill a hole in the downspout using the included hole saw. For 2"x3" downspouts, drill in the front. For 3"x4" downspouts, drill in the side (3" side). Ensure the hole is level with the barrel inlet.
- Insert the diverter and fasten to the downspout with the included self-tapping screws.
- Attach the fill hose to the diverter and into the barrel — and start collecting rain!
