This complete double-stage Big Blue filter housing kit is designed for whole-house or point-of-entry rainwater filtration. It includes everything you need to install a two-stage sediment and carbon block filtration system — plus a full extra set of filter cartridges so you're ready for your first change right out of the box.

About the Filters

The kit uses a two-stage filtration approach. The first stage is a 30/5 micron dual-gradient melt-blown polypropylene sediment filter, which captures larger particles first and progressively finer sediment down to 5 microns — extending the life of the second stage. The second stage is an NSF-certified 5 micron carbon block cartridge, which reduces chlorine, taste, odor, and a broad range of chemical contaminants.

Both cartridges are 20" x 4.5" Big Blue size — the high-flow format designed for whole-house applications. The 5 micron final filtration level is also the required pre-filtration specification for the Quantum Disinfection Filter, making this kit an ideal upstream stage in a complete rainwater drinking water system.

Why Two Stages?

Running sediment filtration ahead of carbon block filtration protects your carbon cartridge from premature clogging and maximizes its effectiveness. For rainwater harvesting systems, where sediment loads can vary seasonally, this two-stage approach provides consistent performance and lower long-term filter costs.
